Let me start by saying that this is not a brand new resort. Hopefully Hyatt the new owners can turn it around but I won’t be going to any former AMResort.ĭo not focus on the terrible reviews! Secrets Saint Martin is great! We just spent 6 days here and have zero complaints. This was my first secrets experience and will be my last. One night my wife and I didn’t eat dinner because we were nauseous from the food at lunch, another burger that we had to ask them to cook better, raw in the middle. They had jet skis available Next to the resorts beach for 80 dollars per half hour per person □. No hobie cats or anything of that nature. I saw some kayaks in the lagoon area, but was told I wasn’t allowed to swim out to get them, it was beyond the swim area. If you didn’t eat or hide then you didn’t get more. Your daily refilled snacks were a two ounce plastic tub of Pringles and 1 bag of peanut M&M’s how luxurious□□. The room was comfortable but no bottle of spirits just some water and soda in mini fridge with a few cans of Presidente beer. The pool filter was broken and off for two days causing the pool to start to grow algae, you can tell when it’s off because their little waterfall fountains don’t come on and the infinity aspect of the pool isn’t there due to water level dropping. Had one decent dinner in seven nights and I asked for another serving and was told that they don’t do additional servings at dinner. The poolside eatery was closed the entire stay. You’re good if you like burgers and hot dogs on a daily basis. ![]() Only one restaurant open per day and that was usually the buffet serving the same food over and over and over. If you want a drink you have to go get it yourself. The property calls itself all inclusive, but has hardly any staff so there is no drinks delivered poolside or by the beach. It wasn’t until the second day that they moved us to a room with a better view even though half the resort rooms were empty. We received initially a room overlooking the abandoned hotel next door. Well we paid for an upgraded room with Mountain View’s. I truly believe Secrets should remove its name from the resort and move it under one of its other brands because this resort is not Secrets quality. This is a decent resort to visit but not at its current price point. I do believe they are still feeling the effects of the hurricane and pandemic. They seem to lack resources and staff to give you all that is expected from the brand. All in all, this resort just does not compare to any of the other Secrets we've visited. We stopped by on our first day and was so put off by their rudeness we NEVER returned. On the negative side, the workers at the Barefoot Grill were very rude. Alicia at the CoCo Cafe was absolutely fantastic. ![]() The crew was for the most part very courteous and helpful. The rooms were just fine and I have zero complaints (thankfully) but other than that physically the resort was lacking. IF YOU TRY TO COMPARE IT TO ANY OTHER SECRETS, YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED. My wife and I have been to several Secrets with Secrets Los Cabos being the latest. The grounds are not well kept and it certainly did not have the luxurious Secrets feel to it. My wife and I went down with my brother and his wife but my first initial thought once we arrived was disappointment. Maarten is a cozy little place for a couples retreat. ![]() I truly believe Secrets should remove its name from the resort and move it under one of its other brands because this.
